Frequently Asked Questions
Renting a gown
Do I need an appointment to try on dresses?
Yes. Our private showroom offers a personalized shopping experience by appointment. We recommend booking ahead, especially if you are shopping for an upcoming event.
How long can I keep my rental?
Your rental period and return date will be confirmed at booking. Please ensure your selected dates allow enough time for your event and the scheduled return.
Are the gowns professionally cleaned?
Absolutely. Every gown is inspected and professionally cared for between rentals. A cleaning and handling fee is added to each booking.
Do I need to clean the dress before returning it?
No. We take care of routine cleaning. Simply return your gown in its provided garment bag.
Do I need to pay a security deposit?
Most rentals do not require a refundable security deposit. Select premium pieces may require one, which will be clearly disclosed before your reservation is confirmed.
What happens if I damage the dress?
We understand that accidents happen. Normal wear is expected. Additional charges may apply for damage requiring repair, specialty cleaning, restoration, or replacement, as outlined in your rental agreement.
Can I alter the gown?
No permanent alterations are permitted without written approval from The Closet Society. Please do not cut, hem, dye, or otherwise modify a rented garment.
Can I reserve a gown for a future event?
Yes. We encourage reserving early to secure the piece you love for your preferred date.
What if the dress doesn't fit?
We strongly encourage an in-person fitting before booking. Our team is happy to assist with sizing and fit recommendations. Rental availability and fit cannot be guaranteed until your reservation is confirmed.
Do you offer shipping?
Our standard experience is centered around our private showroom. Shipping availability, if offered for your reservation, will be confirmed before checkout.

How much do I earn?
Gown owners receive 30% of the base rental price for every completed rental. Cleaning, taxes, deposits, and other administrative charges are excluded from the commission calculation.
Who determines the rental price?
The Closet Society determines rental pricing based on designer, original retail value, condition, style, demand, and the garment's suitability for the collection.
Who handles cleaning?
We coordinate routine garment care between rentals. Owners are responsible for delivering accepted pieces in the condition required by their consignment agreement.
What if my gown is damaged?
Each accepted garment has an agreed replacement value documented before entering the collection. Our consignment agreement outlines the procedures and financial responsibilities associated with damage, loss, and replacement.
Do I still own my dress?
Yes. Ownership remains with you unless you separately agree to sell or transfer the piece.
Can I take my gown back?
Yes, subject to the agreed consignment term, any existing reservations, and the return provisions in your consignment agreement.
Will every submitted gown be accepted?
No. We curate the collection based on quality, style, condition, and anticipated demand.
